Mini Moments

1-25-2021

This week I’m doing something a little different with this blog. Instead of one big moment that I dwelt on, I’m giving you several mini heaven moments. Think of it like flipping through a scrapbook of my week instead of looking at one glossy photo. I hope this group of moments help you notice some smaller times throughout your days that make a big difference in your mind set.

1. Rest

I took a picture of my toddler sleeping. It’s the sweetest full heart that I get when I see a child that I care for get needed rest after a crazy day of running, yelling, being messy, learning, coloring, and laughing. God loves us working for Him, but He also loves us resting just like He did in the creation story. Rest is a heaven moment.

2. Bible truth

Someone wrote a children’s picture book which is currently in the process of being published, and I had the opportunity to read the text with my kids and provide feedback to the author. It’s based on Psalm chapter 23 (The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want). It was a blessing to go through the story and relate it to the Bible because my kids got to understand the Lord as the Good Shepherd even more and it’s basically a giant Heaven Moment in children’s format. I love that someone else is using their time to relate life on earth to the Bible’s truths and turning it into a book which can help many kids comprehend more about God’s word. Bible truths are heaven moments.

3. Love

My four-year-old is very passionate about everything, feeling each emotion to the extreme. The other day he said to my husband and me, “My heart is almost out of love because I’ve given you all my love.” It was sweet, and he got extra cuddles from us. My child’s love is limited because of his lack of control and understanding. My love is also limited because even though I can love everyone, I cannot invest my time, money, energy, and emotion into every cause, every charity, every person, or every good thing. However, God's love is unlimited covering all people in all places at every moment in time. Love is a heaven moment.

4. Parenting

One of my daycare kids saw me coloring in my Bible and told me that his mom reads the Bible. It’s a great thing to know that other moms are out there reading their Bibles in front of their kids as a good Christian example. The verse I was coloring was Psalm 90:17 “Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!” My daughter’s memory verse this week was Colassians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” I think the Lord was speaking to me about my work with these children. Although, sometimes it may seem like they aren’t understanding a thing I’m saying, I believe I’m slowly building them a foundation in Christ by being an example and teaching them about God’s love. Parenting is a heaven moment.

5. Knowledge and Wisdom

My theology class that I’m taking online was teaching me terms that I don’t quite understand yet, but it’s giving me more knowledge about God’s providence and control of all creation. I’m learning things I thought I knew (however weird that may be) like how God created the world and the different debates within Christian circles. Knowledge and wisdom are heaven moments.

6. Creation

Lastly, the sky. I’m sure I see heaven every time I look at the sky. It’s so big and untouchable. God’s sky holds beautiful artwork in sunsets, predictability in morning sunrises, power in storms, patience in puffy clouds, wonder in the Northern Lights, vastness in the dark space, creativity in the stars, and control through it all. Creation is a heaven moment.

7. Scripture (making the list a perfect 7...heehee!)

Phillipians 4:8 “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things."
